Creating a Freeform email Template

Last updated by Rich Orr on November 08, 2016 13:24

In the system there is the ability to create a freeform template, whilst this isn't always advisable unless you have HTML knowledge it is still possible.

The first step is to go to the Email section of the system. From there you will see different tabs which include the Email Templates tab - click on that tab

The page above will load up with various options on it, the one you want is "Add New Free-Form Template" - click that

You will now be taken to the screen where you prepare your freeform template, here you give it a template name, a short test subject line and then you can pick any of your other custom templates, our templates or even any of your past campaigns to use as a base template. Simply click on one of them and you will see a preview appear on the right hand side.

NOTE: It is always easier to pick a base template rather than starting from scratch if you don't know HTML

Once you've selected your template, you can click on the Create button

Next up you will see the screen below which shows you the top level details as well as the all important Edit button.

Clicking on the edit button will take you to the freeform editor

This will load up the editor and allow you to start to build or customise the template you have selected. Please keep in mind that formatting is key and without previous HTML experience we would suggest you use one of our other templates in our main editor.

The editor has all of the normal options in terms of formatting as well as the source button which allows you to switch to the HTML code view

Once you are happy, simply save the template and then it is ready to be used.

NOTE: Make sure you add the unsubscribe tag into the email. The tag is %unsubscribe%
