When is the best time to send emails?

Last updated by Brandon Hewitt-Hunt on March 19, 2018 11:25

In your email marketing strategy, an important consideration is the time that you actually send your communications out! Here are a few pointers as to when is a great time to do this:
1) Best day to send emails is Tuesday

The research is conclusive and shows that to get the best success from an individual email, you should send your emails on a Tuesday! Emails sent on this day enjoy a decent overall open rate of roughly 18%, this is agreed by various big companies such as Experian and GetResponse.

2) Best day to send an email campaign is Thursday

The general lifespan of an email is about an hour after it has arrived in your inbox. The open rate drops to under 8% after 4 hours. After 24 hours there’s less than 1% chance your email gets open.

So, the best day to send a bulk email blast is on a Thursday. This is when you’re likely to get the best open rates AND click through rates.

3) Best time to send an email campaign

This is surprising but the best time to send an email blast out if you’re just aiming for more opens and clicks, is between 12PM – 4PM. This is when people are most likely to actually open emails as the afternoon is generally quieter than the morning for most people.
