On my spreadsheet some of my contacts don't have names recorded yet...?

You may find yourself in the situation of having gathered a set of new contacts but you notice that on your spreadsheet most of your contacts have a First Name and Last Name (in addition to email address etc) but some entries are currently without names.

So what should you do to prepare for your contact imports and how can you manage the personalisation of your segmented email campaigns?

The first thing to do is to filter your contacts with/without names onto 2 separate files (e.g. Excel .csv files).

Then with each of your files action the imports, match the appropriate fields across and also create a new group for each file during the import e.g. Personalisation 1...Non-Personalised 1...

Make sure that you also tick the contact preferences correctly which should include Email.

Then when you are managing your email marketing you can select the groups correctly and whether you use personalisation

e.g. Hi %FirstName%

As and when you get the names for the Non-Personalised group you can then easily edit their names into their contact record and then change the group they belong to.
